Art In Nature Kids Programme - At Pasir Ris Park

Fee: $70 per child

- Suitable for ages 7 to 12 and parents too

This 2-hour “Art in Nature” session will take kids and parents through the magical mangrove forest, the Kitchen Garden and Green Volunteers butterfly garden in Pasir Ris Park, Singapore. The guide and instructor Carlyn is a long-time resident in Pasir Ris and a Green Volunteer at the garden. She has also hosted three mini documentaries on Pasir Ris for the Singapore Heritage Festival 2020. Click to view here.

Through their exploration in nature, the kids will:

: identify local fauna and flora (an illustrated guide is provided)

: discuss issues about environment and our interconnection

: identify some of the local butterflies and butterfly plants

: botanical study and sensory observation to create botanical art

: draw and paint in various media like watercolours, gouache, etc

: discover their interconnectedness with nature, develop patience, perseverance, creativity, social skills and respect for nature

*What To Bring:

  • Wear light clothes, cap and covered shoes for walking

  • Insect repellent and sunblock are recommended

More about the instructor:

Carlyn Law is a Singaporean artist and educator who is well versed in various techniques such as watercolours, gouache, and blockprinting. She believes art is important for self-expression, creativity, and well-being, and loves connecting with people over art. The mom of one boy teaches a variety of adults and kids workshops at venues such as APICS.

“I have created this enrichment program for kids as I want them to enjoy nature, be creative and curious about our natural world in a safe space,” says Carlyn who lives in Pasir Ris for close to 30 years. You can find the videos of her workshops on Instagram at @eattodraw.
