Sambal Food & Art Workshop - Singapore Heritage Festival 2020

When I came up with the Sambal workshop in February, I didn’t expect the ripples it’d create. I wanted to create a fun programme with my friend Fareena for food and art lovers to make traditional sambal and discover more about our culinary heritage.

To my pleasant surprise, the National Heritage Board picked up on it and invited us to recreate the Sambal Food & Art Workshop for the Singapore Heritage Festival 2020 that’s happening in mid June to July! More details on www.heritagefestival.sg

This year’s festival is going digital for the first time due to the Covid19 situation, hence Fareena and I will be demonstrating our Sambal workshop via a Live Streaming on 27 June Saturday at 11am to 11.30am.

Click on this link to join us that day: https://www.heritagefestival.sg/programmes/sambal-food-art-workshop

You will learn how to make 3 delicious sambals from Fareena, a passionate home cook who’s well versed in Malay cuisine. She will share tips on how to prepare Sambals such as Tomato Sambal with belacan and Tempeh Sambal. Recipes and ingredients will be uploaded on the Singapore Heritage Festival’s website in advance so yes you can join in, real time!

After that, I will show you how to draw chillies and create a vibrant Sambal Recipe art poster in Watercolours.
